A 25-year-old Oahu woman was sentenced to 10 years in prison for negligent homicide, but she won’t start her sentence just yet.
In 2010, Brittany Poole was driving drunk and crashed near Pupukea killing 21-year-old Aiea resident Unique Murry.
Murry and two of his brothers were passengers in the car.
On Wednesday, a judge sentenced Poole to 10 years in prison, but said her time behind bars will not begin yet since she’s in a drug and alcohol treatment program at Sand Island.
The court will reconvene on Nov. 14 to decide if Poole’s treatment is progressing or if she should begin her prison sentence then.
