Honolulu firefighters put out a house fire in Pupukea early Thursday morning.
The fire broke out just after 12 a.m. on Alapio Road.
According to HFD Captain Terry Seelig, the two-story house was fully involved in flames when firefighters first arrived on the scene.
Officials say all nine people and three cats escaped from the house with no injuries.
Firefighters brought the fire under control within 30 minutes of arrival.
“I hope it was accidental. I was sleeping. Someone else was sleeping in the room where it started in. They didn’t even know there was a fire. So it had to be accidental because nothing was burning. There was no candles, no incense, no nothing,” resident Mitzi Bokola said.
The residents are renting this house while their nearby home is being renovated.
The fire caused $300,000 in damage. The fire also destroyed three vehicles and a motorcycle.
Investigators say the blaze began in a second floor bedroom.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
