A 28-year-old Lahaina woman is in extremely critical condition after she was struck by a motorcycle early Thursday morning.
According to Maui police, the crash happened at about 1:45 a.m. on Honoapiilani Highway at the intersection of Hoohui Road in Lahaina.
Police say a 2006 black Kawasaki ZX 14, operated by a 46-year-old Lahaina man, was heading south on the highway when it struck the woman, who was not in a marked crosswalk.
The woman was taken to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in extremely critical condition.
The operator of the motorcycle sustained a fractured right arm and was also taken to the hospital.
Police say alcohol possibly played a role in the crash. Speed is also suspected, but is still under investigation.
