Chinatown advocates to warn businesses of HECO scheme

Chinatown advocates will be pounding the pavement Saturday to warn businesses of a scheme targeting local ethnic restaurants.

They will hand out fliers.

It has information about the latest scheme, where people are posing as Hawaiian Electric workers by phone, trying to trick customers for money.

They’re sophisticated enough that the caller ID even says the calls are coming from HECO.

The Chinatown Business and Community Association will pass out fliers starting at 9:30 a.m.
