A former Sacred Hearts Academy teacher has pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting a student.
William Plourde, 53, turned himself in to Honolulu police and was charged with sexual assault of a minor.
His attorney is asking the public to withhold judgment until the case is heard.
“The fact is he’s been there for 28 years, he taught theology and other courses. There’s never been a hint of other problems with Mr. Plourde from any other student or faculty. Otherwise, they would have terminated him a long time ago,” Plourde’s attorney Myles Breiner said.
Plourde remains in custody on $200,000 bail.
