Big Island police have identified the two victims in Thursday’s fatal house fire in Hilo.
Police say 67-year-old William Hachmeister and 60-year-old Dixeen Sakamoto, both of Hilo, were identified through dental records.
An autopsy conducted Friday also determined that both victims died of toxic carbon monoxide inhalation due to the house fire.
The fire was reported shortly after 1 a.m. at a home on Wainaku Avenue. After firefighters extinguished the flames, the two bodies were discovered in the rubble.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
