Woman arrested in apparent stabbing death of Puna man

A Big Island family is in shock after the deadly stabbing of their loved one.

The family identified the victim as 42-year-old Shane “Ah-Chock” Campbell.

They says he had some type of relationship with the suspect, but are not sure how close they were.

Police arrested 27-year-old Manaolanalani Benford of Pahoa for second-degree murder.

On Wednesday night, police responded to a report of a stabbing at a home on Kawakawa Street in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision.

Campbell was taken to the Hilo Medical Center, where he died at 11:30 p.m.

“He just wanted for be with somebody. That’s what he when see in this girl. He when care about her, but it seemed she would always try to provoke him with the littlest things. Like with my family,” Shane’s brother Jessie Campbell said.

Benford is being held at the Hilo police cellblock while detectives continue their investigation.
