2 arrested in Big Island drug raid

Big Island police arrested two people following a drug raid in Pepeekeo.

On Thursday, police served a search warrant on a home located on Kaapepa Street. Officers recovered crystal methamphetamine along with paraphernalia associated with its distribution.

Officers also recovered several vehicles and more than $5,000 in cash.

Police arrested 31-year-old Ryland Uchima and 30-year-old Kaycie DeMotta.

Uchima was charged with attempted first-degree meth trafficking, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, and two counts of drug paraphernalia.

His bail was set at $56,000. He is being held at the Hilo police cellblock pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Monday.

DeMotta was released pending further investigation.
