A visitor from China was taken to the hospital after nearly drowning at Hanauma Bay.
The incident happened at about 12:40 p.m. Friday.
According to the Honolulu Emergency Services Department, the man, believed to be in his 40s, was on the reef when he slipped and fell into the water. The man’s family says he does not know how to swim.
Lifeguards brought the man to shore and performed CPR.
Paramedics responded and transported the visitor to the Queen’s Medical Center in serious, but stable condition.
