Ahu damaged in Windward Oahu

Hawaiian cultural leaders are asking for the public’s help after a Hawaiian stone ahu was desecrated.

It’s located at Castle Junction in Windward Oahu.

The ahu was dedicated and blessed, as part of an island-wide project to re-establish traditional ahupua’a place names and boundaries.

It happened between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday.

Cultural leaders say it’s a display of disrespect for the Hawaiian culture, and they want to find out who did this.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
