HVO photograph of Puu Oo; Reports ocean entry at Kupapau has stalled

The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park posted this beautiful picture on their Facebook page.

The photograph was taken by USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory scientists from the air over the Pu‘u ‘Ō‘ō cindercone on August 27. The spatter cone is about 6 m (20 ft) tall.

The National Park Service also stated on their website that their reports indicate the ocean entry at Kupapa‘u has stalled and no evidence of an entry plume has been observed in several days.
