Internet Cat Video Festival to be held in Honolulu

The Internet Cat Video Festival (#catvidfest) is going on tour with a stop in Honolulu.

The festival launched last year in Minnesota and attracted 10,000 people to watch and judge internet cat videos from around the world and now it is making a stop at the Honolulu Museum of Art.

There will be 12 screenings scheduled for this year’s entries.

The festival runs from Sept. 7 through Sept. 12.

Admission is $10, $8 for museum members.

The Internet Cat Video Festival will hit 19 other cities around the world.

Cat Costume Contest

Come dressed as your favorite feline on opening night, Sep 7—whether it’s your own furball or an Internet celebri-cat, such as Lil Bub or Grumpy Cat. The winner will be announced at the screening—the most PAWesome costume wins a pair of film tickets and a #catvidfest poster.

Instagram Cat Video Contest, Sept 7-12

Show off your own kitty’s antics by uploading the cutest, wackiest or funniest videos to your Instagram account and tagging #catvidfestHI for a chance to win a Basic museum membership ($25 value). The winner will enjoy a year of free admission to the museums, ARTafterDARK events and discounts at the Doris Duke Theatre.
