The University of Hawaii band and cheerleaders got the fans riled up, but the excitement has been building for some time.
The fans are hungry for more than what’s cooking on the grill — they want an upset.
“Absolutely without a doubt,” one fan said. “I think it’s time. I’m convinced, I’m convinced.”
Fans of all ages have jumped on board the “Beat the Trojans” bandwagon.
“I think the Warriors are gonna win the game,” another UH fan said.
Although there are plenty of visitors who would have none of it.
“Not today. Oh, no. I think they’re mire upset. There’s more of us here than them,” a tailgater said.
University of Southern California fans travel well — as much as 5,000 of them are expected to show up.
As hungry as the fans are for a win, the home team still has plenty of aloha.
“They hosted us last year we went to the Coliseum, so there was 90,000 of them and there were two of us and they were nice,” another UH fan said.
It was hot out there for tailgaters, but there were no complaints.
Those tents were handy and even the light tradewinds helped.
