Monday marked the 175th birthday of Hawaii’s last reigning monarch.
Dozens turned out to commemorate the birth of Queen Lili’uokalani, who is buried at the Royal Mausoleum.
The queen reigned for nearly two years before the overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1893.
Family and friends got a chance to place lei and make offerings at the site.
Queen Lili’uokalani died in 1917 due to complications from a stroke.
She was 79 years old.
