Hawaii’s top athletes compete for a good cause

Folks from across the state got fit Monday, to help Hawaii’s service men and women and their families.

Hawaii VA Loans hosted its 3rd Annual Showdown.

Over 50 teams and 11 individuals competed in some grueling events all for a good cause.

“They take care of us so it’s time for us to take care of them. And that’s what the CrossFit community is doing today to raise money fro them,” Hawaii VA Loans President Gabe Amey said.

Monday’s event raised over $28,000.

All proceeds will go to Operation Homefront Hawaii, which helps families of deployed service members, as well as Hawaii’s wounded warriors.
