A former Sacred Hearts Academy teacher accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old student was released Wednesday.

Judge Glenn Kim ordered William Plourde’s release following recommendations from the court’s Intake Services Center.

Plourde, 53, had been in custody since Aug. 7.

He will be under electronic supervision and will also have an evening curfew.

Plourde must also stay away from the Sacred Hearts campus in Kaimuki.

Last month, an Oahu grand jury charged Plourde with seven counts of sex assault.

One of those charges carries a mandatory 20-year prison sentence.
