Rally held at UH Manoa encourages students, faculty to ‘Move with Aloha’

Move with Aloha

“Move with Aloha!”

That’s the message at the University of Hawaii Manoa campus.

Students, faculty, and members of the drumline marching band held a parade through campus Wednesday with a message for bicyclists and skateboarders.

Campus officials launched a new policy asking those on coasting devices to walk instead of roll through campus on busy walkways.

“We’ve had some near misses. We’ve had a few crashes, but they have not been serious and that’s part of it. We really wanted to get in front of it and not wait for something serious to happen,” said Crysttal Steiner, with UH Manoa Commuter Services.

The initiative has been discussed for several years, but was never officially enacted or enforced.
