There are changes to a dredging project in Hawaii Kai after concerns were brought up about the trucking company contracted to haul away the material.

SER Trucking has been hauling the sludge from the Hawaii Kai Marina dredging project and dumping it at a site on Waianae Valley Road.

The city says it has received complaints about illegal dumping and stockpiling there, and it is in the process of taking action.

On Saturday, some of that material spilled onto the H-1 Freeway, causing a major traffic jam.

The Hawaii Kai Marina Association says the sludge from the project will not be removed from the site until the city tells them that SER Trucking has obtained the proper permits.
