It was a single punch that turned deadly after a Makakilo man fell and hit his head on the sidewalk.
That’s what prosecutors in the manslaughter trial of Royce Gouveia argued in court Thursday.
Gouveia is accused of punching Albert Meyer on a Hookeha Street in Sept. 2012.
Gouveia’s attorney says the victim was high on methamphetamine and was going to attack his client.
The attorney says Gouveia slapped, not punched, the victim and claims Meyer lost his balance because he was high.
A toxicology report did find meth amphetamine and methadone in Meyer’s blood.
