The former principal of a Waipahu elementary school has been charged with tampering with a government record, according to the Attorney General’s office.
Officials say Florentina Smith, 69, served as principal of August Ahrens Elementary School when the alleged offenses occurred in Nov. 2011.
Tampering with a government record occurs when a person knowingly and falsely makes, completes or alters, or knowingly makes a false entry into, a written government record. It’s a misdemeanor offense punishable by up to a year in jail and/or a $2,000 fine.
Smith’s arraignment and plea is set for Monday, Sept. 9 at 8:30 a.m. at Ewa District Court.
