UH Wahine volleyball coach Dave Shoji sets new NCAA record

University of Hawai’i women’s volleyball Coach Dave Shoji became the NCAA’s winningest Division 1 college volleyball coach Friday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.

He beats the record held by former UCLA legend Andy Benecowski as the winningest coach of all time in Division 1 volleyball.

Rainbow Wahine down Santa Clara 3 sets to 1.

It’s win 1,107.

Now it wasn’t easy.

Santa Clara took set 3 of the match…putting a scare into the electric Stan Sheriff Center crowd.

But the Lady Bows…obviously emotional themselves…were led by All-American Emily Hartong with 17 kills.

Dave Shoji, who started coaching the Rainbow Wahine at age 28, got all the love UH Manoa and the 808 have to offer.
