The long-awaited online health insurance marketplace is now live.
On Tuesday, Gov. Neil Abercrombie and community and healthcare leaders announced the completion of the Hawaii Health Connector.
The non-profit organization was established to comply with the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Its executive director says the uninsured no longer has a face and this will provide easy access to health insurance choices.
“Please help us get the information out and share with your family members, your community members. It affects someone,” Hawaii Health Connection Executive Director Coral Andrews said.
“This is geared to the individual business, it’s geared to the individual himself or herself, it’s geared to the individual family,” Gov. Abercrombie said.
Open enrollment for health insurance on the connector begins in October and runs through March 31.
Coverage begins Jan. 1, 2014.
