Dozens enjoy ‘National Hunting and Fishing Day’

The state hosted the annual event at the Koko Head Shooting Complex in East Oahu.

People were encouraged to bring canned goods or to make donations to help support the Hawaii Foodbank.

The event featured hands-on activities, including archery and fishing.

“High powered firearms, we have air guns for little kids and pistols, the cowboy action shooters you get over there and you see all the old cowboy guns and stuff, they’re dressed for the occasion,” State hunter education program instructor John Kobayashi said.

Some local hunting and fishing clubs also helped with the event.
