An Oahu man who shot another man three times was sentenced to a 20-year prison term with a mandatory minimum of five years.
Reynaldo Valdes-Paz pleaded guilty to attempted manslaughter and a firearms charge in connection with the Oct. 2010 shooting.
According to the prosecutor, Valdes-Paz shot an acquaintance three times during an argument about a woman.
“First of all, I want to thank you for taking into consideration and accepting my plea,” Valdes-Paz said.
The victim did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
The shooting happened across from the old Hard Rock Cafe near the corner of Kapiolani Boulevard and Kalakaua Avenue.
