He was selected as Hawaii’s Principal of the Year, but now John Sosa is under investigation by the Department of Education.

Sosa was placed on leave with pay from his job at Kaiser High School.

The DOE released the following statement Wednesday:

“The Department has initiated an internal investigation, and at the appropriate time, we will comment.”

Sosa was principal at the school since 2008.

He was named the 2012 State Principal of the Year by the Hawaii Association of Secondary School Administrators.

An acting principal will take over until the investigation is completed.
