No tsunami threat for Hawaii after strong earthquake near Peru

Earthquake near Peru

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 7.2-magnitude earthquake near the coast of central Peru.

The earthquake was reported at 6:43 a.m. (HST) Wednesday.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat for Hawaii.
