A new program at Mililani High School is growing.
In its second year, the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program is skyrocketing in popularity.
The unit’s color guard was on display Thursday morning on Wake Up 2day.
“Well, our program is pretty new. Last year was our first year, so this is our second year. And last year, we had around 110 cadets. And this year, we have 155. So, our program is really expanding and growing,” JROTC cadet Andrea Thayne said.
“Well, I really saw like all the leadership opportunities. And I really wanted to get up there and try and be a leader, build those skills, teamwork,” JROTC cadet Natasha Parowski said.
Both cadets also said having their parents in the military helped guide them into the growing program.
