Multiple lane closures on H-1 Freeway scheduled for Sunday night

H-1 Rehabilitation Project

Drivers beware! Up to two H-1 Freeway eastbound lanes will be closed from Sept. 29 through Oct. 2, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. between Likelike Highway and Ward Avenue.

The project was delayed Monday night due to the weather.

Westbound lanes will remain open.

The state Department of Transportation is continuing the H-1 Freeway rehabilitation project tonight starting at 9 p.m. with a two-lane closure of H-1 Freeway heading eastbound between Middle Street and Ward Avenue.

All lanes will reopen at 4 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The DOT states that this area is the oldest and busiest traffic corridor on Oahu.

This federal aided project will remove and replace up to 12 inches of asphaltic concrete.

The project also includes re-striping to add an extra lane in both directions between Punahou Street and Middle Street.

Note that all road construction is weather permitting.
