City improving bus stops to comply with ADA requirements

Bus Stop Roofs

The city is fixing its bus stops to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

It’s all part of the Department of Transportation’s Bus Stop Site Improvement Project.

The DOT is widening bus shelter roofs across the island by about 10 inches.

On Monday, KHON2 spotted a crew making the changes to the bus stop on the corner of Pensacola and King Streets.

The changes are being made so riders on wheelchairs can be protected by the elements.
