If the government shutdown is not resolved by next month, the University of Hawaii football team could find themselves heavily affected.

The Department of Defense has temporarily suspended sports competitions for the Army and Navy due to the budget stalemate.

The Rainbow Warriors are scheduled to play the Naval Academy on Nov. 9 in Maryland.

Closing out the season on Nov. 30, UH is scheduled to play the U.S. Military Academy at Aloha Stadium.

Both programs, joining the Air Force, have their games this weekend heavily in doubt.

An announcement is expected as early as Thursday on whether or not the teams will play this Saturday.

UH Athletics Director Ben Jay said he will monitor the situation, but has not yet been contacted by either service regarding the state of the Hawaii games.
