The University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team begins Big West Conference play this week with a pair of road games, beginning with a contest against Cal Poly on Thursday, Jan. 9. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. PT) at the Mott Athletics Center.

UH enters league play on a roll having won nine of its last 10 games and have a Big West-best 11-3 non-conference mark. The Rainbow Warriors are off to their best start in the Gib Arnold era and best start since the 2003-04 squad
began 14-3.

The Rainbow Warriors begin their second season in the Big West after finishing
fifth (10-8) in its inaugural season last year. Hawai’i was picked sixth in the media’s Big West  preseason poll released in October.

UH will face a Cal Poly (4-9) squad that has lost four straight games, all of which came on the road. The Mustangs, who were picked third in the preseason poll, have won the last four meetings between the teams and handed UH its worst loss of the season last year in San Luis Opisbo (59-88).

Following its contest at Cal Poly, UH will travel south to face Cal State Northridge on Saturday, Jan. 11 (7:00 p.m. PT). Four of UH’s first five league games are on the road.
