University Laboratory School students got down and dirty at the beach on Monday.
It’s all part of their annual Ka Iwi Beach Clean Up to help restore one of the state’s scenic beaches.
The event is organized and created by students to raise awareness about our historic sites, problems, with marine debris and other impacts humans have on the environment.
“We found boogie boards. There’s like some strange metal pieces and stuff like that. Stuff you wouldn’t, like not only nails, but some other stuff that I’ve never seen before. And yeah, just a lot of trash,” University Laboratory School Senior Michelle Au said.
About 30 students and their families showed up for the clean up.
