A popular tourist attraction on Oahu’s North Shore will reopen on Wednesday.
Waimea Valley was closed for 16 days due to rock scaling maintenance along the front entrance.
Rock scaling of the front entrance was completed ahead of schedule, allowing officials to reopen the valley earlier than planned.
During the closure, staff cleaned, painted, and completed minor repairs to bridges and various facilities. Paths were re-graveled, several sections of road were repaved, and rock edging was repaired throughout the gardens.
Staff also worked on completing the renovation of the Proud Peacock restaurant, which is scheduled to open in mid-March.
