Waimea Bay Beach Park was reopened on Thursday. Ocean Safety lifeguards will be patrolling beach park areas. The public is asked to please heed any warnings that may be issued.

Although the beach park has been reopened, Oahu is still under a high surf warning until 6 a.m. Friday. Wave heights on the North Shore are expected to reach 30 to 40 feet during this period.

Only highly-experienced surfers should attempt to enter the ocean at Waimea. Everyone else is advised to stay off the beach and surrounding boulders.
