Starting Tuesday, the Waianae police station will close for reconstruction.
KHON2 was the first to report the story last July.
The Honolulu Police Department announced four years ago that it would demolish the deteriorating station and replace it with a 26,000-square-foot, two-story building.
But nothing happened until now.
During renovations, police operations and services will be moved to a temporary location in the Waianae Neighborhood Community Center.
Construction is expected to finish in late 2015.
