Senate President Donna Mercado Kim officially opened her campaign office Saturday afternoon.
About thirty supporters were on hand when the Maile Lei was untied.
Kim will be trying to win the first congressional seat currently held by Colleen Hanabusa, who is running for the U.S. Senate.
Kim points to her various leadership roles in government, but also her commitment to accountability.
“Making sure government is accountable to the people. Making sure we’re accountable to the people and that we’re spending their money, we’re spending the tax dollars efficiently, effectively. I’m really big on cutting waste and that’s one of the things I’m going to look at in Washington, D.C.,” Donna Mercado Kim stated.
Kim joins a crowded democratic field including Wil Espero, Ikaika Anderson, Stanley Chang, Mark Takai and Kathryn Xian.
