Honolulu police say the man who allegedly fired a shot at officers is still in the hospital being treated for a broken jaw.

Nicolas Nakano was driving a stolen car on Thursday night in Kahala when it flipped over.

Sources say Nakano’s pistol jammed after he fired one shot and missed. Officers did not return fire.

Police say Nakano’s injuries were from the crash.

Nakano was arrested for a handful of counts including attempted murder, resisting arrest, and firearms offenses.

On Saturday, he was released pending investigation on those counts, but he is still in custody for a retake warrant for violating his parole.

Sources say Nakano is suspected to be part of a group that’s selling automatic weapons and grenades.
