People in parts of Kalihi were left in the dark on Sunday because of some downed power lines along Dillingham Boulevard near Kokea Street.
Hawaiian Electric Company says it was an equipment failure. They say the lines did not come down because of the weather or from an accident knocking a pole down.
HECO is still trying to figure out why their equipment failed.
“First the light turned off, so I went out to see what’s going on and I saw all the flickers coming out from that post and I saw the wire fall down,” H&R Block Tax Professional Shirley Napoles said.
Approximately 450 customers were affected. Power has since been restored.
