Man charged with impersonating US Marshal

Matthew McGill

A Big Island man accused of pretending to be a U.S. Marshal and threatening two hotel security guards has been charged.

Matthew McGill, 35, was arrested Saturday at the Embassy Suites Waikiki Beach Hotel.

Honolulu police say two security guards had received a noise complaint, so they went to check it out.

At the room, police say McGill told the security guards he’s a U.S. Marshal and then he tried to arrest the security guards.

Police arrived and arrested McGill.
