Ask HPD: Street taggers

Ask HPD graffiti

Honolulu Police Department Capt. Andrew Lum answers this week’s question.

Question: Do Oahu’s police have a special unit which captures street taggers?

Answer: The HPD has crime reduction units that work on graffiti cases. Information is exchanged throughout the districts and monthly meetings are held to identify suspects.

Help from the public is essential in battling graffiti. Anyone with information is asked to call the Graffiti Hotline at (808) 723-3475.  Someone is available Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Graffiti is an eyesore. The HPD holds cleanups at various locations with our community partners to paint over graffiti.

For more information, contact a community policing team in your area or visit the HPD website.
