A career criminal known to Honolulu police as the “Gingerbread Man” is back behind bars.
Amery Kahale-Sugimura, 35, was arrested Wednesday night at a Waianae Gas Station on several counts including burglary and drug offenses.
He was also arrested for two contempt warrants totaling $1 million.
In October, Kahale-Sugimura was involved in a police shooting after leading officers on a chase on a stolen motorcycle.
Police say after crashing the motorcycle, he ran into a home where he assaulted the homeowner, stole a truck, and tried to escape. That’s when police shot him several times.
He was charged with assaulting a police officer, robbery, and drug offenses.
