‘Gingerbread Man’ pleads not guilty to burglary

A trial date has been set for the criminal known as the “Gingerbread Man.”

Amery Kahale-Sugimura, 35, pleaded not guilty in court Friday morning. He was arrested on Wednesday for a burglary while out on bail.

Last October, he led police on a chase through Aiea, where they ended up shooting him several times.

He was charged with assaulting a police officer and robbery, but was released after posting $250,000 bail.

Kahale-Sugimura remains in custody on two contempt warrants and $35,000 bail.
