Now a hiker rescued from Mauna Loa opens up about his ordeal.
“The thing that I was very much hoping was that someone would notice that I’m gone, because it was still within my schedule. I was planning to get back Wednesday night so as far as anyone else was concerned, I was perfectly fine, but I was hoping that someone would figure out that hey there’s a snowstorm and that he might be in trouble?” rescued hiker Alex Sverdlov said.
Hawaii National Park Rangers rescued 36-year-old Alex Sverdlov of New York Thursday morning.
He had made it to the summit on Tuesday but as he began hiking down a snowstorm hit.
Night fell and Sverdlov decided to hunker down in the snow with nothing but the clothes on his back.
