A former wrestling coach has been found guilty of sex assault for inappropriately touching a female wrestler.
The incident happened in June 2012.
Prosecutors say Keith Matsumoto was at a tournament at Farrington High School when he touched the teen wrestler who was not wrestling at the time.
“I’m especially proud of that wrestler for coming forward and reporting that inappropriate touching. If not for that, this behavior would have never been detected and we would not be here in court,” prosecutor Rochelle Vidinha said.
Matsumoto is out on bail until his sentencing in May. He faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
As part of his bail, he is not allowed to coach.
His lawyer says they plan to appeal the ruling.
