Twenty soldiers received a big homecoming on Tuesday.
The soldiers are part of the 14th Construction Management Team and 15th Explosive Hazards Team based out of Schofield Barracks.
They spent the past nine months in Afghanistan making improvements to the Afghan people’s response to natural disasters.
An award was also presented to the Family Readiness Group Leader for making significant contributions to the morale, welfare, and spirit of the unit.
“It’s tough. Our communication is not always up to par. This deployment we were lucky and we were able to speak to our spouses a lot. Email was good,” said Erika Groenthal, Family Readiness Group Leader.
A separate group of the 130th Engineer Brigade soldiers who returned home last month were also honored.
