Pregnant woman goes missing on Maui

A 27-year-old pregnant woman was reported missing on Maui and police have issued a missing person’s bulletin.

The woman’s family is worried that something bad may have happened to her.

On Sunday night, Carly Scott left her home in Makawao to head to Hana.

“She went to Hana to tow her friend out of ditch.  And she got him out of the ditch and he said he was driving in front of her and he thought he saw her lights. And then after a little while, he didn’t notice her lights behind him anymore,” said Brooke Scott, Carly’s sister.

That was the last time anyone saw Carly.

“She didn’t go to her job yesterday. It’s just not like her. I think something bad happened,” Brooke Scott said.

Her family has been searching the Keanae area near mile marker 20 on Hana Highway.

“Well, my mom and my sisters and my dad went out. They’ve been looking for her all day,” Brooke Scott said.

They think she may have gotten into an accident in that area and that she may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

“She works early in the morning. She probably had been awake for 20 hours at the point when she was driving back,” Brooke Scott said.

The friend Carly went to help on Sunday night was her ex-boyfriend, who’s also the father of her baby.

Carly was almost six months pregnant.

“He said they had a good visit and that she wasn’t upset or anything,” Brooke Scott said.

Carly Scott is 5’10” tall and weighs 160 pounds.

She was driving a 1997 Toyota 4-Runner, which has a dented in front bumper, and a silver skull on the grill.  Her SUV’s license plate number is MDE 889.

Carly’s family said her dog, Nala, was with her at the time. Nala was found Monday morning in Nahiku.

If you’ve seen Carly Scott or her SUV, call Maui Police Department Detective Loo at (808) 270-6516 during business hours or (808) 268-2763 after hours.
