The U.S.S. Lake Erie is headed to the western Pacific Tuesday morning.

It will be the last deployment for the guided missile cruiser while homeported here at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

“We are trained and ready for deployment,” said Lake Erie Commanding Officer Capt. John S. Banigan. “I am very proud of this crew and all that they have accomplished.”

During this mission, sailors will provide humanitarian assistance and undergo training  with other countries in the region before heading to a new homeport in San Diego.

In its place…the U.S.S. John Paul Jones will come to Pearl Harbor later this summer.
