Maui missing person’s website taken down by county

KHON2 has an update to a story that aired Wednesday night about Maui County’s Missing Persons website which no longer exists.

Maui County spokesman Rod Antone says it was the county’s decision to take it down.

Antone says the county has received a lot of emails about the missing page.

He says the website should have been taken down years ago, because it hasn’t been updated since 2007, and it was hard to navigate.

The county is working to fix the missing persons website to make it more user-friendly, but officials do not have a timeline for getting that done.

From now on, missing persons information will be posted on the Maui County and Maui Police department’s Facebook pages.
