Tourist who went bird watching rescued after getting lost on Big Island


Big Island fire rescue personnel located and rescued a tourist who had gotten lost while bird watching.

Officials say the 65-year-old man set out at about 6:30 a.m. Friday morning near the 22-mile marker of Saddle Road, but shortly after became lost.

His car was located, and with the help of GPS coordinates from the man’s cell phone, rescuers were able to locate him Friday night.

He was not injured.
