Honolulu police reclassify Waikiki robbery as manslaughter

After the death of the victim of a violent robbery, Honolulu police have reclassified the case to manslaughter.

The family of Jullie Stephenson took her off life support Tuesday night. Stephenson had been in the intensive care unit since February 2, when the 52-year-old was assaulted, pushed to the pavement and her purse was stolen near the intersection of Ala Moana Blvd. and Hobron Ln.

Investigators say they are following up on leads including various surveillance video footage from the area. “We still have some discrepancies,” said Lt. Walter Calistro of the Honolulu Police Department. “That’s why we’re reviewing the surveillance video to make sure first before we release the description (of the suspect).”

Police will not release the video at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
